The pastoral services that were being provided in Windsor, Ontario by the Antonin Fathers such as (Sylwanos Aboujaoude, John El Helou and John Dahdah...) from 1930 until 1977, opened the door for the Congregation of the Order Antonin Maronite (0.A.M.) to answer the needs of the immigrants by the request of His Excellency G. E. Carter, who was the Bishop of London at that time.

St. Charbel's monastery was founded in 1977, as was Our Lady of Lebanon in Toronto in 1983. From St. Charbel's Monastery, the Fathers ( Fr. John Sader, Fr. Caesar Ashkar, Fr. Charbel Chidiac, Fr. Antoine Badr, Fr. George Bou Fadel, Fr. Nohra Seif…) also provided their pastoral services to the largely scattered Lebanese community in St. Peter's Church, Windsor; in Leamington and in London until March of 1987.

As the number of parishioners grew there was a need for a new church to be constructed. As with each new beginning, the needs of the church were fulfilled. St. Charbel Church was constructed at the approval of his Exc. Bishop George Abi Saber and the Superior General of the O.A.M. Paul Tannouri in March of 1991.
